African Continental Foundation Scholarship for Nigerian Students 

We all know how hard it is to fund tertiary education in Nigeria, especially for the poor and self-funding students. However, it has come to our attention that the African Continental Foundation Scholarship for Nigerian Students is here to help students who can’t afford their education. For over a decade, the foundation has awarded full-tuition scholarships to 100 Nigerian students annually to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies at accredited institutions within Nigeria.

Overview of the 2023 African Continental Foundation Scholarship

The African Continental Foundation (ACF) is a private, not-for-profit, non-denominational, international development agency established in 2022 by a group of successful Africans who bring together human, financial, and technical resources to address some of the challenges faced by the poorest and most marginalized communities in Africa. ACF invests in human potential, expanding opportunities, and improving quality of life.

Applications are invited from qualified and interested Africans for the 2023–2024 undergraduate scholarship.

Eligible Countries: Nigeria

To Be Taken At: Country of Origin

Course: Any Course

Value: Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N250,000) per session

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens
  • Candidates must be 16 to 26 years of age
  • Be currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited Nigerian university
  • Have a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Candidates must have written JAMB and passed the cutoff mark for the intended school, Candidates who didn’t register for JAMB don’t need to apply
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and potential for future success
  • A minimum of five O’level credit passes, including English and mathematics, in not more than two sittings
  • Exhibit a commitment to community service and civic engagement

Application process

The application process involves:

  • Completing the online application form
  • Submitting official academic transcripts for all university degrees and diplomas obtained
  • Providing two confidential letters of recommendation from university professors
  • Writing a 500- to 1000-word essay on your leadership experiences, future goals, and how the scholarship will assist you
  • Participating in an in-person or video interview (for shortlisted candidates)

Financial Need

You must demonstrate financial need. The scholarship aims to support students who may not otherwise be able to afford the costs of higher education, such as tuition, fees, room and board, books, and living expenses.
